The short explanation of this alert was:

Mount St. Helens is home to the last volcanic eruption in the continental United States, and still remains one of the nation's most active volcanoes. The lands around Mount St. Helens also include spectacular canyons, miles long lava tubes, and one of the nation's largest elk herds. Its biological and scientific resources make it a very special area indeed. And the future of Mount St. Helens could change, if this special area becomes a part of the national park system. A citizen's board dedicated to the future of Mount St. Helens is currently seeking input from visitors and admirers alike about the future of Mount St. Helens. Weighing in now can help shape the future of this special place. Take action today!
