We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit NPCA.

The short explanation of this alert was:

The historic landscape of Valley Forge National Historical Park is imminently threatened by a poorly-conceived development proposal on historically significant, private land within the park boundaries. Despite widespread public opposition and an ongoing lawsuit, the local township re-zoned the land now owned by American Revolution Center (ARC) to allow construction of a museum, hotel, conference center, and other commercialized buildings inside the park. If ARC is built, buildings and lights will interrupt once-historic views from the park.

In order to learn from history, we must protect the places where history happened. This development would literally be built where General George Washington and the Continental Army prepared to fight for our freedom.

A lawsuit brought by NPCA and a group of local residents was recently dismissed by the federal court because of a lack of involvement by the Department of the Interior. Please ask President Obama to join the legal action to ensure Valley Forge is protected so our children and grandchildren can enjoy and learn about our American heritage.
