We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit NPCA.

The short explanation of this alert was:

As wolves return to Washington state, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is drafting a plan for managing this important species. NPCA supports Alternative 3 of the plan, which allows translocation--moving wolves to areas of the state difficult to reach naturally, like Olympic National Park--and it sets a separate recovery goal for the Pacific Coastal region when the other options do not. However, the plan's target population of 15 breeding pairs is too low. Existing research suggests that a goal at least three or more times as large is needed for a viable wolf population in Washington.

Please send a letter below to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife urging them to implement Alternative 3. Your comments will help ensure Washington and its national parks will have a healthy and viable wolf population in the future.
