National Parks Action Fund analyzed voting records for members of the 118th Congress on park funding, conservation, historic preservation, and wildlife protection. The result is our 2024 Congressional Scorecard. The 2024 Scorecard only scores members of the House of Representatives; the Senate did not take any votes on parks that can be scored.
The House of Representatives voted on legislation that drastically cuts funding for the National Parks Service, jeopardized the survival of endangered species, and weakened conservation of more natural and cultural sites. In the last year, there were ample opportunities for Members of Congress to support national parks. Despite this, 51 percent of Congress received a C, D or F rating in our scorecard. Thankfully, 47 percent of Congress received an A rating in our scorecard, indicating a steady base of support for our national parks. Our parks deserve more champions in Congress.
We are witnessing an increasingly polarized time, at the same time, we know national parks can garner bipartisan support. Enter your contact information into the form to see how your congressional representative voted. Then, send them a message to encourage strong park votes in the future.
