Congress: Pass the America the Beautiful Act to Support Repairing Our National Parks

The bipartisan America the Beautiful Act will invest billions of dollars to fix our parks! Our parks need and deserve this support. Now we need Congress to get it passed.

National parks preserve our heritage and the stories that unite and inspire us, from the battlefields at Gettysburg to the cliffs of Yosemite. Despite the importance of these places, they are crumbling and in desperate need of repair. Routine maintenance and repairs have for too long been outpacing Congress's annual investments.

The bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act provided dedicated funding in 2020 to address these needs, but the Act’s maintenance fund expires next year. Thankfully, bipartisan senators have introduced a bill, the America the Beautiful Act, to extend this critically needed funding. It will provide an additional $11.2 billion over eight years to address our parks’ crumbling roads, decaying buildings, outdated water systems and many more critical repair needs.

Members of Congress must now work together to get the America the Beautiful Act over the finish line. Extending maintenance funding for our national parks is fundamental if we want these places to continue to thrive for future generations to enjoy.

Urge your senators to join as cosponsors with Senators Daines, King, Cramer and Warner. With this bill, we can fix even more parks.

I’m reaching out to share some wonderful progress that has been made at our national parks, as well as the ongoing maintenance and repair challenges our parks face, and to ask for your help. Senators Daines, King, Warner and Cramer have introduced a bill, the America the Beautiful Act, to extend the Legacy Restoration Fund, which is the public lands infrastructure repairs fund established by the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA), to address maintenance and repair needs in our parks and other public lands for another eight years. We urge you to join in the effort and cosponsor this important bill for our national parks. 
 
Four years ago, members of Congress came together with huge bipartisan support to prioritize our national parks with the passage of GAOA. This dedicated funding is addressing hundreds of overdue maintenance projects in national parks, from trails to roads, campgrounds, visitor centers, water systems and more. It is greatly improving visitor experiences for the millions of people, including constituents like me, who travel to these treasured places every year. It is also creating jobs and bolstering the economies of communities in all fifty states. 
 
The successes of GAOA's Legacy Restoration Fund are far-reaching, stretching from Acadia to Glacier Bay, and covering a wide range of projects protecting historic and natural resources and enhancing the visiting experience. And it’s clear that local communities across the country have and will continue to see the benefits of investing in our national parks.
 
Through 2025, GAOA is addressing critical repair projects and improving visitor experiences in our parks. But its maintenance fund will expire next year if it is not extended by the America the Beautiful Act. I call on you, my Senator, to join as a cosponsor of the America the Beautiful Act and do everything you can to help extend this important national parks repairs fund before it expires. I believe that national parks can continue to unify our nation and Congress and would be grateful if you can join this effort.
