National parks stand as some of the most consistent symbols of resilience throughout moments in history. But now, as they face unprecedented challenges related to climate change, is the worst possible time to cut critical relief short. Disasters ranging from floods to hurricanes, fires and more not only threaten our parks’ irreplaceable natural and cultural treasures but also the economic well-being of surrounding communities. Delays in disaster relief funding could worsen the financial strain on the Park Service and delay essential repairs. If Congress doesn’t include our parks in the relief package they are considering now, some repairs will take years or never be completed. Swift, substantial disaster funding will be crucial for the recovery of national parks, ensuring they can rebuild infrastructure and continue to welcome millions of visitors safely each year and support local economies.Urge Congress to fund robust relief for communities and the billions of dollars needed to repair and rebuild our national parks.
