Defend Public Lands! NO on S.J Res 63

Congress is considering dismantling the Central Yukon Resource Management Plan, which protects more than 13 million acres of public land across Northern Alaska with important protections for wildlife habitat, salmon spawning grounds, and subsistence resources.

I am writing to urge you to speak up for Northern Alaska and reject attempts to dismantle the Central Yukon Resource Management Plan.

S.J. Res. 63 would remove protections for more than 13 million acres of public lands, including important protections for wildlife habitat, salmon spawning grounds, and subsistence resources in Alaska.

The Central Yukon plan was developed over 13 years and represented extensive input from Alaska Native Tribes, rural communities, recreationists, and conservation groups. The plan and others like it ensure that local voices shape how lands are managed for the long term. Overturning it would silence Alaskans and instead open the door to unchecked overreach and exploitation. Overturning the plan could also be a dangerous next step towards approving the Ambler industrial mining road, which would forever damage America's largest national park landscape.

Congress has never used the Congressional Review Act to override public land plans in this way. Doing so now would throw our entire system of managing public lands into chaos.
