Prevent Further Cuts to Park Staff and Funding

It takes thousands of staff to protect our more than 400 national park sites.

Park staff work every day to maintain our nation’s most precious natural and historic places, educate visitors and keep them safe, and preserve what makes our country special.

Our national parks and park staff have been under attack for weeks, and a potential “reduction in force” process for the National Park Service could lead to drastic cuts to park staffing and funding across the country. At this rate, visitors will start being severely impacted this spring break and into the summer.

Put simply, parks wouldn’t be parks without the people of the National Park Service – and those people are under attack.

Tell Congress to stand up for park staff and to roll back these devastating directives on national parks.

National Park Service staff are essential to the operation and protection of the special places that millions of Americans visit every year. From guiding hikes to backcountry rescues, studying wildlife movements to monitoring water quality, preserving fossils to restoring historical documents, park staff are the heartbeat of our parks.

Our national parks and park staff have been under attack for weeks, and now, the ordered “reduction in force” process for the National Park Service, could lead to drastic cuts to park staffing and funding across the country.

Any cuts to National Park Service staffing could forever change our national parks and would be nothing short of devastating. At this rate, visitors will start being severely impacted  as they visit our parks for spring break and into the summer. In the long run, the loss of biologists, historians and other specialized rangers, could harm our ability to protect wildlife and to preserve important artifacts.

As your constituent, I urge you to speak up on the importance of national parks and the threat of these federal worker directives on national parks.

Firing hundreds of park staff will do nothing to make our Park Service more efficient. These moves will push our parks past the point of no return.
