Never called Congress before? No worries! Here are some suggested talking points to use when calling your elected officials:

Sample Talking Points

Hello,

My name is______. I’m from_____ (town/state).

I’m calling to voice my serious concerns about House Joint Resolution 60, which is expected to be voted on this week.

This damaging bill would allow harm to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, one of the nation’s most remote recreation areas next to Canyonlands National Park.

Off-road vehicles are required to be regulated in national park units to protect areas that hold invaluable natural resources, like fragile shorelines and sensitive wildlife habitat,  and enhance visitors’ experiences in one of the most remote recreation areas in the country, known for its backcountry solitude and peaceful natural sounds. House Joint Resolution 60 undermines those protections by opening the door to increased off-road vehicle damage and noise pollution.

Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Canyonlands National Park are both cherished for their dramatic red sandstone landscapes and remote solitude and deserve to be protected.

I’m urging (Member’s name) to vote NO on House Joint Resolution 60.

Tell Congress to vote no on H.J. Res. 60 and instead support the National Park Service in protecting one of southern Utah’s most remote backcountry landscapes from damaging off-road vehicle use. Flood the phone lines of Congress with your calls to save national parks.
