Vote NO on House Joint Resolution 140

A foreign-owned company is trying to mine toxic sulfide-ore copper in the watershed of Voyageurs National Park and Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Wilderness.

These cherished wild lands and waters are protected by a 20-year ban on copper mining... but House Joint Resolution 140 is a congressional effort to overturn the mining ban.

Mining has already caused irreversible damage to our national parks, leaving behind permanently contaminated waters at places like Grand Canyon. We cannot allow the Boundary Waters and Voyageurs National Park to become the next example.

Call your senators today and tell them to stop this attack on protections for national park lands and waters!

Never called your senators before? No worries! Here are some suggested talking points to use when calling your elected officials:

Sample Talking Points

Hello, my name is ________, and I’m calling from ________ (town/state).

As your constituent, I’m calling to urge you to vote NO on House Joint Resolution 140.

Mining pollution in the watershed of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Voyageurs National Park poses irreversible risks to clean water, wildlife, and outdoor recreation.

HJR 140 also sets a dangerous precedent that could allow Congress to roll back protections for public lands and waters nationwide.

Please protect national park waters by voting NO on House Joint Resolution 140.

Thank you for your time.
