Protect Arizona Landscapes

Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and Coronado National Memorial are facing devastating threats from ongoing and proposed border wall construction. A second layer of wall is being rushed forward at Organ Pipe and construction is already underway at Coronado, with crews blasting and bulldozing terrain in a landscape that has supported wildlife movement and cultural connections for centuries.

Urge the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of the Interior to halt border wall construction in Arizona’s national parks and protect these irreplaceable landscapes. We must safeguard wildlife corridors and one-of-a-kind landscapes before it’s too late.

I oppose the construction and expansion of border wall through Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and Coronado National Memorial. The proposed wall could tear through some of southern Arizona’s most important landscapes and cultural sites, including Quitobaquito Springs and one of the last remaining wildlife corridors on the Arizona-Mexico border.

Building a border wall through these National Park Service sites will further damage wildlife connectivity, water resources, and cultural sites that are important to local communities. Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument already has border wall and the construction of a second could cause further, irreversible damage to this unique place. And a wall at Coronado would tear through a natural and cultural landscape full of diverse wildlife, including the rare ocelots and jaguars of the region. Destruction at both park landscapes also threatens robust recreation economies that support made-in-America jobs in local communities.

Please stop this unnecessary destruction to America’s national parks.
